Why should I use mobile data in Europe?

Nowadays, it’s essential that travelers remain connected to the Internet wherever they are. It may be impossible for you to just switch off and go off the grid. Sure, you may have Wi-Fi at your hotel (which has its own set of severe disadvantages) but you are not going to just sit there for the entirety of your trip. You’ve got a magnificent continent to explore!

Whether you’re in transit or adventuring off on a remote piece of paradise you’ve discovered, it is crucial that you remain connected with a strong signal. You never know what kind of emergencies you may run into!

Traveling across Europe with high-speed mobile data is a must as you would be using your phone a lot more than you think. From making payments to making reservations, the possibilities are unlimited.

Why can’t I just pay roaming charges?

From horror stories of coming back home to massive phone bills to enduring that nagging worry in the back of your mind about whether your phone is consuming data, relying on your carrier’s roaming plan is sketchy at best.

Even though you are quite judicial in your mobile Internet use, you still will end up paying for the Internet that is being used by popular apps regardless of whether you are using them actively or not.

Furthermore, you can expect terrible Internet speeds if you’re relying on the carrier’s International roaming plan - we’re talking 2G speeds of up to 256Kbps here – almost unimaginable in the era of the modern Internet where webpages are full of heavy multimedia.

You would have a maximum download capacity of 32Kbps when operating at 256Kbps. Do you really want to wait 10 minutes for a single page to load?

Why can’t I just use Wi-Fi at hotels, cafes, and public spaces?

In one sentence – you are opening yourself up to getting hacked!

When you connect to a network that you are not familiar with and then begin surfing the web, you are putting yourself in a position where someone might potentially intercept your traffic and use it against you. The information you transmit includes passwords and any sensitive data.

Because of this, it is strongly suggested that you avoid connecting to any Wi-Fi network that you are unfamiliar with in order to reduce the chance that your data is compromised.

This should be especially troubling given that over seventy percent of reported hacking incidences take place when users connect to public Wi-Fi networks, such as those found in coffee shops, restaurants, malls, airport lounges, and other public places.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that is the same as a traditional SIM card. By virtue of its virtual nature, an eSIM can carry out all the functions a normal SIM card does and much more. It frees you up from opening up your phone’s SIM card slot and changing cards manually.

More importantly, connecting to a new mobile network is extremely easy with an eSIM as you would just need to scan a QR code. This way, you never have to worry about losing your SIM card or spending time trying to fidget with your phone’s SIM tray.

eSIMs are also the preferred way for smart travelers to connect due to flexible pay-as-you-go plans and the ease with which they can be activated and used. You also don’t need to spend any time filling up any paperwork or seeking out a vendor.

All you need is to have a phone which supports eSIM. Most new smartphones support eSIM and with the new iPhone 14 exclusively supporting eSIM, we can expect this to be the standard for phones in the future.

How can eSIMs help me save time and money?

You can experience blazing-fast connectivity with eSIM Internet in Europe.

All the time and energy you would need to set up a suitable mobile Internet connection for your holiday can be saved and actually be used for enjoying your holiday.

Instant activation

All you need to do is buy a Europe travel eSIM from any of our stores below and scan the QR code that will arrive in your mail. This is all that is required to activate your eSIM plan.

However, we strongly advise you to wait until you are actually inside Europe before activating your plan to save you from the potential of accidentally triggering your bundle and consuming your plan’s data unintentionally.

Zero paperwork

Since an eSIM is a completely digital product, you would not need to think twice about finding a vendor or filling in any paperwork, or submitting documents.

Use more than one data plan

An eSIM makes it infinitely easier for you to switch between your mobile data plans. If you have to switch back to your mobile plan which you normally would use while you are at home, having an eSIM-compatible phone can make this easy and instantaneous.

No more fiddling around with your SIM tray

Unless you particularly enjoy the experience of removing and replacing your SIM card each time you may need to switch, eSIMs can save you tons of time and headaches. You will never have to hunt for that often-lost SIM card tray pins nor store your SIM cards safely. All you need to do is to change the active network from your phone.

Is my phone compatible with eSIM?

The development of eSIMs has sped up the evolution of Internet of Things (IoT)-based devices and made them near ubiquitous. With clear advantages over traditional SIM cards and many newer models going the exclusive eSIM route, all indications point toward eSIMs being the future.

All newer smartphone models support eSIMs. Here’s a quick list to see if your phone is supported.

How to activate my eSIM plan?

Purchasing and activating your eSIM literally takes seconds. All you need to do is to purchase a package that is adequate for your needs from our store and then open the mail with the QR code that will be sent to your registered email.

Although the specific steps may vary according to your device model, the installation method is relatively the same for all devices.

You simply need to go to your Settings and select the “use a different network” option and you’ll be given the option to scan the QR code and your plan will be activated.
